BECKER: WHAT A START!

LEICESTER star Luke Becker admitted it had been a virtually perfect debut as he top-scored in the opening-night win over King’s Lynn.

Becker scored 11+2 for the Watling JCB Lions as they overcame the Stars 47-42 in the ROWE Motor Oil Premiership to put two league points on the board from the off.

The American put in a strong, determined display and underlined what strength he is set to provide in the top five – but he also says there’s more to come!

He said: “It’s something I’m happy with, and also even there’s stuff to build off and learn from too.

“This is a new track and new club for me, after one night I think we’re all settling in good, but at the same time there’s still much more to learn and I’m really looking forward to the year and excited about it.

“I’d only done one meeting here before today, we had press and practice last week and I was trying to learn everything and find different lines, to and get the experience.

“It’s still a technical track, it’s not like the track where you just hold her flat out and go around. You’ve got to learn it, and that’s what I’m looking forward to this year.”

Next up for the Lions is next Thursday’s (March 28) trip to the Adrian Flux Arena in the reverse fixture against King’s Lynn.

Leicester have a former Stars rider in their ranks in Richard Lawson, but Becker admits his own past form at the Norfolk venue has been mixed.

He said: “It’s actually a bit up and down for me, I’ve had some good results and some pretty bad results there too!

“I’m looking forward to hopefully change the bad ones and keep getting more consistent.”
